This is an ongoing project where we can look into the common foundation relations that exist within the North American breeding pool. This project seeks to identify and provide data on the foundation ancestors that have 50% or more influence in the collective breeding pool. (Last Update March 2025)
This is a downloadable document of independent data analysis related to Dales foals born in North America from 2015-2024. The data shows a collective producing/prospect breeding pool of 115 ponies that can be traced to 26 ancestors. This data report shows how these 115 ponies are related through a reverse pedigree format. In the reverse pedigree format, you will easily see with color coding the mare and stallion producers as well as prospects. The data is downloadable for personal use and not to be duplicated or distributed without permission.
Grey Fell Pony bloodlines in USA & Canada. In North America, from 2017-2024, I have identified 29 grey Fell ponies out of 200 total Fell breeding ponies. Since grey is dominant, we can look at a grey pony's pedigree and easily see the bloodline pathway that handed down the grey gene. Note: In other breed gene pools that are larger, this kind of insight would mainly be trivial as with most bloodline color data. Even though grey is noted as a color in record keeping, it should be more accurately understood as a genetic mutation that causes depigmentation over time. I personally find the takeaway from this data is to help breeders see the reality of our small gene pool. Click the link for more details. (Last Update July 2025.)
